Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, downloading the app, or using any part of the Parenting Path service (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”), our Privacy Policy, and our DV Safety Policy (together, the “Agreement”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
These Terms form a legally binding contract between you and Parenting Path, Inc. (“Parenting Path,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a company incorporated in the United States.
You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account and use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 and have the legal capacity to enter into this Agreement.
The Service
Parenting Path is a co-parenting communication and coordination platform for iOS and Android. The Service includes:
- Secure messaging between co-parents with AI tone analysis
- Shared calendar with two-way Google and Apple Calendar sync
- Expense tracking and split calculation
- Court order document upload and compliance monitoring
- Court-ready report generation
- Child wellbeing tracking
- Dispute resolution tools
- DV Safety Mode
- Professional portal for attorneys and mediators
Not legal advice. The Service provides tools for co-parenting coordination and documentation. Nothing in the Service — including AI-generated summaries, tone scores, court report narratives, or rewrite suggestions — constitutes legal advice. Always consult a licensed attorney for legal guidance.
Not a substitute for court orders. The Service’s compliance monitoring is based on rules extracted from documents you upload and manually confirm. The app cannot guarantee the accuracy of its interpretation of your specific court order. Violations logged by the app are an aid to documentation, not a legal finding.
Not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24/7 at 1-800-799-7233.
Accounts
3.1 Registration
You must provide accurate, complete, and current information when creating an account. You are responsible for keeping your account information up to date.
3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your password and account. You must not share your password with any third party. You must notify us immediately at security@parentingpath.net if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
We will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with this section. Each account may only be held by one individual; sharing accounts is prohibited.
3.3 One Account Per Person
Each person may hold only one account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent a suspension, to harass another user, or for any other purpose is prohibited.
3.4 Family Units
A family unit is a shared account space connecting two co-parents. One user creates the family and invites the co-parent. The co-parent joins by accepting the invitation. Both parents have equal access to shared data within the family unit unless the applicable features restrict access to one user. For example, safety preferences and the safety journal are individual, not shared.
Subscriptions and Billing
4.1 Plans
Parenting Path offers the following subscription plans:
| Plan | Price | What’s Included |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 — no time limit | Basic messaging, shared calendar, 50/50 expense tracking, core safety features. No credit card required. |
| Standard | $15/month or $150/year | Billed per family, not per individual parent. |
| Pro | $29/month or $290/year | Billed per family. |
| Court Subsidy | $0 | For families who qualify through an approved organisation code or court-administered subsidy program. |
Pricing is in US dollars. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days’ notice. Existing subscribers will not be subject to price increases without prior notice and an opportunity to cancel.
4.2 Billing
Subscriptions are billed in advance for the chosen billing period (monthly or annual). Payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your payment card information.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period. You will receive a renewal reminder 7 days before annual subscription renewal.
If payment fails, we will retry the charge and provide a 7-day grace period during which you retain access to paid features. If the charge does not succeed within 7 days, your subscription will downgrade to the Free plan.
4.3 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time from within the app (Settings → Subscription → Manage Billing). Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to paid features until the period ends.
4.4 Refunds
We do not offer refunds for partially used subscription periods except where required by applicable law. If you believe you were charged in error, contact billing@parentingpath.net within 30 days of the charge and we will investigate promptly.
Apple App Store and Google Play Store subscriptions are subject to the refund policies of those platforms. If you purchased through the App Store or Play Store, contact Apple or Google directly for refund requests.
4.5 Professional Add-On
Families on the Pro plan may grant persistent portal access to attorneys, mediators, or other verified professionals. Each active professional access grant adds $4.99 per month to the family’s subscription as a line-item add-on. This fee is billed to the subscribing parent, not to the professional.
Licence
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the app on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the app or Service;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app;
- Rent, lease, or sublicence the app;
- Use the Service for any commercial purpose other than the personal co-parenting use it was designed for;
- Access the Service via automated means except as expressly permitted by our API documentation.
Your Content
6.1 Ownership
You retain ownership of the messages, documents, and other content you submit to the Service (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process, and transmit Your Content solely to provide and improve the Service.
6.2 We Do Not Use Your Content for AI Training
The content of your messages, your court order documents, your expense records, your child wellbeing data, and your safety journal content is not used to train AI models — ours or any third party’s. Message text is sent to our AI tone analysis service (Groq) for real-time scoring. It is not retained by Groq for training purposes under our data processing agreement with them.
6.3 Immutability of Communications
Parenting Path’s core value proposition is a tamper-evident record of co-parenting communications. Messages cannot be deleted after sending. This is a deliberate product feature. By using the messaging feature, you acknowledge and accept that your messages will be permanently retained as part of the legally significant communication record.
6.4 Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse any person, including your co-parent;
- Attempt to circumvent safety features, including the DV Safety Mode;
- Upload malware, viruses, or other harmful code;
- Attempt to access another user’s account without authorisation;
- Use the Service to make false legal claims or fabricate evidence;
- Violate any applicable law or court order that restricts your use of co-parenting tools;
- Impersonate another person;
- Use multiple accounts to circumvent a suspension.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without notice in cases where we determine the violation poses a safety risk. In other cases we will provide reasonable notice.
6.5 DV Safety Mode
You may not attempt to circumvent, disable, or detect another user’s DV Safety Mode preferences. The protective features of Safety Mode are designed to be invisible to co-parents by design. Attempting to determine whether your co-parent has Safety Mode enabled — through technical means, account manipulation, or any other method — is a violation of these Terms and may be a violation of applicable law.
Professional Accounts
Professional accounts are for licensed attorneys, mediators, guardians ad litem, therapists, and parenting coordinators. By creating a professional account, you represent that:
- You are licensed and in good standing in your stated jurisdiction;
- The professional credentials you provide are accurate and current;
- You will use the portal for lawful professional purposes only;
- You will not access family data beyond what is required for your professional engagement with that family;
- You understand that every access event is logged and may be reviewed by the family and by Parenting Path.
Professional accounts are subject to immediate suspension if we receive credible evidence of misconduct, misrepresentation of credentials, or unauthorised access to family data.
AI Features
The Service uses artificial intelligence for the following purposes:
- Tone analysis of outgoing messages (0–100 score across four dimensions)
- Generation of message rewrite suggestions
- Extraction of clauses from uploaded court order PDFs
- Generation of AI narrative summaries in court reports
- AI moderation support in dispute resolution sessions
AI outputs are not legal advice, not legal findings, and not guaranteed to be accurate. AI tone scores are probabilistic assessments, not legal conclusions. AI-extracted court order clauses require your review and explicit confirmation before activation. AI-generated court report narratives are clearly labelled as AI-generated within the document.
You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content before acting on it. We are not liable for decisions you make based on AI-generated output.
Intellectual Property
The Parenting Path app, website, and all associated software, designs, trademarks, and brand assets are owned by or licensed to Parenting Path, Inc. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership of our intellectual property to you.
The name “Parenting Path,” our logo, and all product feature names are trademarks or trade dress of Parenting Path, Inc. You may not use them without our written permission.
Disclaimer of Warranties
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:
(A) THE AI TONE SCORES ACCURATELY REFLECT LEGAL RISK;
(B) COURT ORDER CLAUSE EXTRACTION IS COMPLETE OR ACCURATE FOR YOUR SPECIFIC DOCUMENT;
(C) COMPLIANCE VIOLATION RECORDS WILL BE ACCEPTED BY ANY COURT AS EVIDENCE;
(D) THE SERVICE WILL BE AVAILABLE AT ANY PARTICULAR TIME.
This disclaimer does not affect any statutory rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers of implied warranties; in those jurisdictions, this disclaimer applies to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Limitation of Liability
(A) YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE;
(B) ANY CONTENT TRANSMITTED BY OR THROUGH THE SERVICE;
(C) RELIANCE ON AI-GENERATED CONTENT;
(D) UNAUTHORISED ACCESS TO YOUR ACCOUNT;
(E) ANY LEGAL OUTCOME ARISING FROM USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS UNDER THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (I) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (II) $100 USD.
This limitation does not apply to: (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or (c) any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by applicable law.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Parenting Path, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service;
- Your violation of these Terms;
- Your violation of any applicable law;
- Your violation of any third party’s rights.
Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
Informal Resolution
Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at legal@parentingpath.net and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will respond within 30 days.
Binding Arbitration
If informal resolution fails, any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) using its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration will be conducted in English. The arbitrator’s decision will be final and binding.
Exceptions
Either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent the actual or threatened infringement of intellectual property rights or to prevent imminent harm. Small claims court actions within applicable thresholds are also excluded from the arbitration requirement.
Note for EU and UK Users
The EU Online Dispute Resolution platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. UK users may also refer disputes to the UK Financial Ombudsman Service where applicable.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, with or without notice, if:
- You materially breach these Terms;
- You create a safety risk to another user;
- We are required to do so by law or court order;
- We cease to offer the Service.
You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Danger Zone. Account deletion is a soft delete — your data is retained for the periods described in the Privacy Policy. You will be logged out immediately.
Upon termination, your licence to use the Service ceases. Data retention after termination is described in the Privacy Policy.
Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days’ notice via email and in-app notification before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not accept the changes, you must stop using the Service before the effective date.
Miscellaneous
Entire Agreement
These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the DV Safety Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Parenting Path regarding your use of the Service.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not waive our right to enforce it in the future.
Assignment
You may not assign your rights under these Terms. We may assign our rights in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Force Majeure
We will not be liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
