Is DV Safety Mode free?

Yes. Every safety feature listed is free on every plan, including the Free plan. No payment is required to enable Safety Mode. Additionally, if you are working with a shelter, case worker, or DV organization, you can ask about the DV waiver code, which unlocks full Pro access at no cost.

Can my co-parent tell I have safety features enabled?

No. Your co-parent will never know Safety Mode is on. The covert icon changes how the app appears on your home screen, notifications show only 'New message' with no sender name or content preview, and there is no visible indicator to the other parent that Safety Mode is active.

How do I enable DV Safety Mode in Parenting Path?

Open Settings, select Safety, and tap Enable Safety Mode. It takes three taps and no payment is required — it works on every plan.

Covert App Display

On your home screen, Parenting Path can appear as Recipe Notes, Budget Tracker, Daily Journal, or another neutral app name and icon. The app switcher shows the same decoy name. Nothing on your home screen reveals what you're actually using.

Important: The covert icon changes how the app appears on your home screen. Someone with device access and technical knowledge may still be able to locate the app through device settings.

Emergency Quick Exit

Triple-tap the home button from any screen — including mid-message, in a modal, or while reading the safety journal — and the app instantly closes, navigates to your home screen, and clears itself from your recent apps. Your draft is saved invisibly.

Important: Test your gesture after any iOS or Android update, as OS changes may affect gesture behaviour.

Photo Metadata Stripping

Every photo you upload — receipts, profile photos, court documents, messages — has GPS coordinates, device model, and all location metadata stripped before it touches our servers. This happens automatically, on every plan, every time. You see a confirmation: 📍 Location data removed.

Screenshot Alerts

When a screenshot is taken on this device, you receive a silent private alert within 10 seconds. No banner. No sound. Badge only. Logged in your Safety Event Log.

Offline Safety Journal

A private, device-encrypted journal. It is not synced to our servers. We cannot read it. Your keys are stored in your device's secure enclave. You can document incidents, attach photos, add GPS tags, and export to your attorney.

Important: Your journal is stored only on this device. Parenting Path cannot access or produce it. What you may be required to produce in response to a court order is a question for your attorney.

Notification Privacy

When Safety Mode is on, notifications show 'New message' with no sender name, no content preview, and no sound. Your lock screen reveals nothing.

Exchange-Only Location Sharing

Location sharing is available only during the 30-minute window around a scheduled custody exchange — never always-on. Location history is deleted immediately after each window closes.
